A Bengaluru man was arrested for creating a dangerous video reel on a busy road. The reel, which has gone viral, shows him seated on an office chair, casually sipping tea while vehicles pass around him on the road.

The video, uploaded on social media, was brought into the notice of the Bengaluru City Police. The authorities registered a case against the 25-year-old man and arrested him to serve as a deterrent to others.

"Taking teatime to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame !!! BEWARE BCP is watching you," the city police posted on X, and tagged a video showing his stunt and arrest.

The accused, identified as Prashanth, also known as Prasha or Simbu, is a goods vehicle driver by profession. According to the police, Prashanth has been frequently making reels on the roads and pavements.

The social media monitoring wing in the Commissioner of Police's office noticed his latest reel in which he can be seen seated on a chair in the middle of the road and disrupting traffic flow. The wing notified the local SJ Park police station to take appropriate measures. Following this, the police initiated their investigation by filing a non-cognisable register (NCR).

Initially, there was speculation that the suspect was an actor from a hit Kannada film released in 2024. However, upon reviewing his Instagram profile, the police identified him.

A senior officer confirmed that Prashanth was arrested on April 16 and later released on station bail. The official added that a charge sheet would be filed in court, and if found guilty, Prashanth could face a fine of up to Rs 5,000, depending on the court’s decision.

After the FIR was filed, Prashanth deleted the controversial video and assured authorities he would no longer record reels on public roads. According to the senior officer, Prashanth claimed he was unaware that his act could have legal repercussions.
