Three minor sisters in Ghaziabad allegedly jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor of their residential building, with investigators focusing on evidence suggesting that the middle sister acted as a “leader” and that a two-step ladder was used as part of the final moments before the incident. Police are probing a possible link to an online Korean task-based game that may have driven the girls towards the fatal act.
The incident occurred around 2.30 am, sending shockwaves through the family and the neighbourhood. Investigators said the sisters allegedly used a small two-step ladder to reach the spot from where they jumped, a detail that is being closely examined for its possible connection to instructions given under the alleged final task of the game.
“This does not appear accidental. We are checking every angle,” an officer said.
Preliminary findings indicate that the middle sister played a key role in coordinating the activities. She allegedly acted as the “leader”, relaying commands and deciding how tasks were to be completed. Police suspect that all three sisters performed every activity together as part of the game, including the final act. “One of them was guiding the others,” an officer said.
The girls’ father, Chetan Kumar, told India Today that the family was completely unaware of what their daughters were going through. “There were 50 tasks. Yesterday was the last one. We had no idea,” he said, adding that he did not wish to show his face.
He said the sisters used to play a Korean game but never spoke about it at home. “They used to play a Korean game. We had no idea about it. Yesterday was the final task,” he said. “They never told us anything. We did not understand what was happening in their lives,” he added.
Police have seized the mobile phones of all three sisters and sent them for forensic analysis. Investigators are examining chat histories, app usage and online contacts to identify who introduced the girls to the game and whether anyone was remotely directing them. “We are trying to trace who motivated them and who kept assigning tasks,” a senior officer said.
A one-page suicide note was recovered from the flat, which reportedly read: “Mummy Papa sorry”.
