Maharashtra has issued its official list of public holidays for 2026, confirming 24 state-wide holidays for government offices. The General Administration Department (GAD) published the notification outlining next year's holiday schedule.

The holidays will apply across all state government establishments, including municipal corporations, municipal councils, nagar panchayats, zilla parishads, panchayat samitis and gram panchayats, as well as government undertakings.

In a key inclusion, the state has declared a special public holiday on November 11, 2026, for Bhaubeej, celebrated during Diwali to honour the bond between brothers and sisters.

The calendar incorporates major festivals and national observances. Additionally, April 1, 2026, a Wednesday, has been notified as a bank-only holiday for annual financial closing and audit procedures.

Officials said the advance declaration will assist government departments in planning administrative schedules for 2026.
