Gurugram police are investigating a woman alleged to have defrauded a cab driver after a lengthy journey and threatening him with false police complaints, with authorities linking her to prior similar incidents.

The case, detailed in a First Information Report (FIR) filed on Tuesday, stems from a complaint by driver Ziauddin, a resident of Dhana village in Nuh district. According to his police statement, he was hired early Tuesday morning by a passenger, Jyoti Dalal. The PTI news agency reported that the journey involved multiple stops across Gurugram, including Sector 31, the bus stand and Cyber City.

The driver’s account alleges that during the trip, which lasted several hours, Dalal requested money for food and drink, to which he acquiesced, spending approximately Rs 700. However, when he later insisted she pay the fare and conclude the journey, she allegedly became aggressive.

"She asked for some money, and I gave her Rs 700. She ate and drank at various places, and I made all the payments. In the afternoon, when I demanded she pay and end the ride, she became enraged," Ziauddin, a native of Dhana village in Nuh district, said.

Ziauddin further claimed to police that the woman threatened to falsely accuse him of theft or molestation if he pressed for payment. She subsequently visited the Sector 29 Police Station, where officials reported she caused a disturbance.

Upon her departure from the station, Ziauddin explained the situation to officers. Police stated that this led them to identify Dalal as being involved in two prior alleged frauds in the area. Authorities reportedly said that she is suspected of having cheated another cab driver of Rs 2,000 and a local salon of a significant Rs 20,000.

The FIR against Jyoti Dalal has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to fraud. SHO Ravi Kumar of Sector 29 Police Station confirmed that an investigation is active and that her arrest is imminent.
