  • Commuters urged to avoid key roads and use alternate routes

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory for Thursday outlining restrictions and route diversions across Central Delhi due to the ongoing AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam.

According to the officials, special traffic measures will be enforced in two phases, from 7.30 am to 10.00 am and again from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm, owing to multiple VVIP movements scheduled at Bharat Mandapam, the airport, and other key locations.

In a post on X, the Delhi Traffic Police urged commuters to plan their travel in advance, avoid affected routes and strictly follow the directions of traffic personnel deployed on the roads.

Key roads to face restrictions

Several important roads in central Delhi are likely to be affected by the restrictions. These include Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath, Akbar Road and Teen Murti Marg. High-security and diplomatic routes such as Shanti Path, Satya Marg and Africa Avenue will also see traffic regulations.

In addition, parts of Mathura Road, Subrahmaniam Bharti Marg, Prithvi Raj Road and Dr Zakir Hussain Marg are expected to face diversions. Connecting roads near Lodhi Flyover and Kautilya Marg may also experience traffic curbs.

Commuters travelling through these areas should expect delays, especially during peak hours, and are advised to keep extra travel time in hand.

Alternate routes

To reduce congestion, the traffic police has suggested several alternative routes. These include San Martin Marg, Panchsheel Marg and APJ Abdul Kalam Marg.

Motorists can also use Aurobindo Marg, Lodhi Road, Ring Road and Barapullah Road to avoid the restricted stretches. Other suggested options are Tilak Marg, Ferozshah Road, Rafi Marg, Sansad Marg and K Kamraj Marg. South Avenue Road and Vandematram Marg may also be used as alternate corridors.

Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate and avoid unnecessary travel in central Delhi during the specified hours. Drivers have been asked to maintain lane discipline and follow traffic rules to ensure smooth movement for all.

The AI Impact Summit 2026 will conclude on February 20.
