The lawyer representing the 17-year-old boy accused of killing a 23-year-old biker in a road accident in Delhi has said the teenager is under extreme mental stress and is receiving threat calls following the incident. The lawyer claimed that the pressure has affected not just the child but his entire family, especially as the boy is currently appearing for his Class 10 board examinations.

The teenager’s lawyer, Lal Singh Thakur, described the accident as “traumatic” and said the accused minor was in shock after the incident. He added that the teenager should not be further targeted and claimed the boy did not try to flee the scene after the crash.

“This accident is traumatic. The entire family is under stress and shock, especially the child, who is unable to focus properly on his board exams. He is also receiving threatening phone calls. The pressure on the child is so intense that it could lead to another accident. This is extremely unfortunate,” the lawyer was quoted by ANI as saying.

He further stated that the family is cooperating fully with the legal process and that the case is under investigation. According to him, the teenager’s conduct after the accident should be taken into account. “The child's behaviour should be commended. The child did not flee the scene. The child's family is cooperating with the court and the police. There is so much pressure on the child that an accident could happen to him. This is regrettable,” he added.

The accident took place on February 3 near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in the Dwarka area of west Delhi. According to police, the 17-year-old was driving a Mahindra Scorpio when it collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. After hitting the bike, the SUV crashed into a parked taxi.

The biker, Sahil Dhaneshra, 23, died on the spot due to severe injuries. The taxi driver, Ajit Singh, was seriously injured and rushed to hospital for treatment. Police said the SUV was owned by the teenager’s father and that the accused did not have a valid driving licence at the time of the crash.

The minor was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent him to an Observation Home. He was later granted interim bail to allow him to appear for his Class 10 board examinations.

Delhi Police have also registered a case against the father of the minor under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, which hold vehicle owners or guardians responsible when minors commit traffic offences. The SUV involved in the crash has been seized.

Meanwhile, Sahil’s mother has alleged that the teenager was driving at high speed and performing dangerous stunts while recording social media reels with his sister. She has claimed that the SUV was being driven on the wrong side of the road. She has demanded strict action and justice for her son.
