A hit-and-run accident on National Highway 727A in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district was caught on CCTV, showing a biker and a minor being hit by two speeding cars one after the other. Both vehicles fled the spot without stopping to help.
The incident happened on Saturday around noon and was recorded by a nearby CCTV camera. In the video, a red car is seen crashing into a motorcycle from behind.
The impact throws the rider onto the road. Just seconds later, a black Hyundai Creta runs over the fallen biker and the child sitting behind him. The SUV drags the motorcycle for some distance before speeding away.
After the accident, local people rushed to help the injured victims as traffic on the busy highway came to a standstill. The video has since spread widely on social media.
Police identified the injured biker as Rajeev Prasad, a resident of Jaitpura village under the Rampur Karkhana police station area. He was travelling towards Betalpur with a 12-year-old child riding pillion, according to a report by India Today.
As per the police, Prasad had slowed down near a divider opening when the red car hit his motorcycle from behind. Before he could get up, the second car struck both of them and escaped.
Gauri Bazaar police station in-charge Rahul Singh said the injured were taken to Maharshi Devaraha Baba Medical College for treatment. “The biker has suffered a fracture in his leg, and the child is also receiving medical care,” he was quoted by India Today as saying.
He added that no written complaint has been filed yet. Police are examining the CCTV footage to identify the vehicles and drivers involved.
