Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested Aakash Sansanwal for allegedly using a fake MP/MLA pass on his car during heightened security checks ahead of Republic Day in Meerut. The arrest was made on Sunday during routine vehicle inspections at the Kashi toll plaza on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway.

Police officials said the checking drive was being carried out under the jurisdiction of Partapur police station as part of increased security arrangements ahead of January 26. During the inspection, police stopped a Scorpio SUV that was displaying a legislator’s pass. On verification, the pass was found to be forged.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Meerut, Dr Vipin Tada, said Sansanwal was immediately taken into custody after the fake pass was detected. “The accused was driving a Scorpio bearing a legislator’s pass. Upon verification, it was found to be forged. An FIR has been registered and he has been sent to jail,” the SSP was quoted by TOI as saying.

Sansanwal is known to be the boyfriend and fiancé of social media influencer Anjali Arora, who gained popularity through her viral Kacha Badam reel. Following his arrest, the incident drew attention on social media and news platforms. According to a report by News18, Anjali Arora allegedly contacted several political leaders in Delhi seeking help for his release.

Police said Sansanwal, a resident of Katwaria Sarai in Delhi’s Kishangarh area, claimed to be a personal assistant to a sitting Member of Parliament and also projected close ties with the MP’s family. Officials said these claims are currently being verified as part of the investigation.

An FIR has been registered against Sansanwal under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to cheating by impersonation, forgery of valuable security, forging documents for the purpose of cheating, and using forged documents as genuine.

Police said they are conducting a strict crackdown on vehicles using fake MP and MLA passes, especially during high-security periods. During the same checking drive, police seized five vehicles that were found using forged passes.

In addition, authorities have registered over 50 FIRs against vehicle owners for various violations, including the use of black films on windows and breaches of traffic rules.
