In a chilling display of teenage brutality in Bhopal, a 16-year-old Class 10 student was viciously attacked by two minors wielding a large knife inside a crowded snooker club. The assailants allegedly stabbed the victim more than 27 times in a frenzied 30-second assault, leaving him with severed fingers and deep gashes across his body.
The horrifying incident, which occurred on the night of February 15 in the Teela Jamalpura area, only came to light on Sunday after graphic CCTV footage of the attack went viral on social media. The video shows the two 16-year-old accused calmly entering the establishment before launching a sudden and relentless attack on the unsuspecting victim.
According to police, the brutality of the attack left the victim with over ten deep cuts, primarily on his hands as he tried to shield himself. Two of his fingers were completely severed and he sustained critical injuries to his shoulder and back. He was rushed to Hamidia Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was discharged on February 16.
The attack, which took place around 9.15 pm, appears to be the culmination of an ongoing feud between the teens, who all study at the same coaching institute.
According to reports, the victim had gone to the first-floor pool club near Ganesh Chowk to watch a game. The two accused arrived and immediately confronted him, allegedly abusing him for acting "overly dominant" during the game and threatening to "teach him a lesson."
When the victim objected to the abuse, the two reportedly assaulted him with their fists first before one of them brought out a sharp-edged weapon and began stabbing him repeatedly.
The victim, in his complaint, stated that he tried to defend himself with his left hand, resulting in grievous injuries to his palm, fingers, and below the elbow. He also sustained wounds on his right arm and back. The attack was so swift and brutal that he began bleeding profusely within seconds.
The assault was interrupted by pool club employees, identified as Junaid and Arham, who rushed to separate the boys. As the attackers fled the scene, they allegedly issued a chilling warning to the victim, threatening to kill him if he ever returned to the club.
Following the attack, the injured boy informed his father, who immediately took him to the hospital. The father later approached the Teela Jamalpura police station to lodge a formal complaint. An FIR was registered on February 16.
While the police acted swiftly to register a case, the incident remained out of the public eye until the CCTV footage resurfaced and spread rapidly across Instagram and other platforms on February 22. It is suspected that the accused themselves circulated the video.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was an act of revenge for a previous altercation in which the victim had allegedly slapped one of the accused. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and authorities have indicated that more stringent charges will be added once the detailed medical examination report is received.
