  • Husband sought contract killer online before murdering wife on Magadi Road
  • Advance of Rs 1.5 lakh paid to Salem offender who did not execute the killing
  • Police arrested Moulesh Kumar for aiding and advising on the murder plot

A police investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman on Magadi Road last month has taken a sinister turn, revealing that her husband, the prime accused, allegedly sought a contract killer through social media before ultimately carrying out the murder himself.

The victim, Bhuvaneshwari, was shot dead in a case that has now exposed a failed murder-for-hire plot spanning two states. According to the Bengaluru police, her husband, Balamuragan, contacted a habitual offender from Salem, Tamil Nadu, to execute the killing.

The investigation found that Balamuragan paid an advance of Rs 1.5 lakh to the man from Salem, who has a history of involvement in murder and burglary cases. This individual, however, did not perform the act, TOI reported.

According to the investigating officer, Balamuragan initially contacted Kumar after searching for individuals described as "rowdies" on a social media platform.

Kumar is said to have demanded an advance of Rs 1.5 lakh for the shooting, but subsequently delayed the act while asking for more funds. The officer stated that Balamuragan, convinced Kumar would not fulfil the agreement, ultimately proceeded to carry out the killing himself.

While the Salem-based man did not become the triggerman, his alleged intermediary role has led to a fresh arrest. The police have taken into custody 25-year-old Moulesh Kumar for his purported involvement in the conspiracy.

Though not the executor, Kumar is accused of travelling to Bengaluru, conducting reconnaissance and advising Balamuragan on how to carry out the murder in areas with minimal CCTV surveillance, police sources reportedly indicated.

Kumar, previously imprisoned in Salem in connection with a house burglary case, was subsequently brought to Bengaluru on a body warrant for intensive questioning by the city police, cementing the interstate dimension of the crime.
