Delhi Police are investigating the mysterious deaths of three people whose bodies were found inside a parked car near the Peeragarhi flyover in west Delhi on Sunday afternoon. The incident has raised questions over whether it was a case of suicide or if foul play was involved.
According to the police, they received a call around 3.50 pm informing that three people sitting inside a car near a service lane of the flyover were not responding and appeared unconscious. When a police team reached the spot and forced open the car, they found all three occupants dead. On forcing the car open, cops found all three dead and a strong smell of a "poisonous substance" in the vehicle, The Times of India reported.
The deceased were identified as Randhir Singh (76), a resident of Baprola village, Shiv Naresh Singh (47), also from Baprola, and Laxmi Devi (40). Police said Randhir Singh was found sitting in the driver’s seat, while the other two were seated in the rear of the car. The vehicle was found to be owned by one of the victims.
After the discovery, crime branch and forensic teams were called to the spot to examine the car and the surrounding area. Officials said several items were collected as evidence, and documents found inside the vehicle helped establish the identities of the deceased.
Police later contacted Randhir Singh’s family, and one of his relatives reached the spot to identify him and Shiv Naresh Singh. The relative told police that the two men were known to each other but were not related.
However, the family member was unable to explain how Laxmi Devi was connected to the two men, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.
Investigators said that cash, mobile phones, and the jewellery worn by the woman were found intact inside the car, suggesting there was no sign of robbery. A soft drink bottle was also recovered from the vehicle and has been sent for forensic examination to check whether any toxic substance was mixed in it.
According to police officials, initial findings point towards a possible case of suicide. However, further inquiries are underway to establish the exact sequence of events and circumstances leading to the deaths.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, and police said the exact cause of death will be known only after the reports and detailed forensic analysis are received.
