After introducing the new Triber, Renault India is gearing up to launch the new Kiger. While the Triber is the company's MPV, the Kiger is its SUV. It also offers the Kwid hatchback.

The new Renault Kiger launch in India will take place on August 24. For reference, the new Renault Triber was introduced on July 23.

Like the new Triber, we expect the new Kiger to come with updates to the exterior as well as the interior. Outside, the front fascia might undergo a significant renovation with new headlights and grille. The front and rear bumpers will be updated as well.

Inside the cabin, we are expecting a new dashboard complemented by new touchscreen infotainment and fresh upholstery. Renault is expected to load the cabin with features like digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and a wireless charger.

The powertrain options will remain the same as earlier. The SUV gets two engine options -- 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol (72PS and 96Nm) and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol (100PS and 160Nm). The transmission options include 5-speed MT and AMT with the naturally aspirated unit, and 5-speed MT and CVT with the turbo-petrol unit.

The new Kiger will be priced higher than the present model's price range of Rs 6.15 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom).

As part of its consolidation efforts, Renault has revealed an aggressive roadmap as four new vehicles are slated to debut in India over the next two years, with a primary focus on SUVs. The company plans to fully utilise its Chennai manufacturing facility, currently operating at only about 50% capacity, by boosting production with both domestic and export models.

A significant development in this trajectory was Renault Group's acquisition of Nissan's 51% stake in their joint Chennai plant, Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL). This move granted Renault full ownership of the plant, which also continues to manufacture Nissan models alongside Renault's portfolio.
