Mahindra & Mahindra introduced the Bolero in the market in August 2000, and the rest, as they say, is history. A lot of people do not realise this, but the Mahindra Bolero is actually the largest-selling SUV ever in India.
Do you know how much sales the Bolero has garnered since its inception? This Mahindra workhorse has reached volumes of nearly 17,00,000 units. It is ahead of every SUV of Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor India and Tata Motors.
In these 25 years, the Bolero has been updated on a number of occasions. However, it has remained true to its character with rugged build, affordability and dependability.
"Sarpanch ki gaadi" -- this is what it is essentially referred to as in the Hindi-speaking rural belt!
After its initial entry into the market in 2000, the Bolero was updated in 2007. Mahindra added the m2DiCR engine in 2011, followed by the mHawk engine in 2016. The SUV was again refreshed in 2020. After that, a somewhat premium version, the Bolero Neo, arrived in 2021.
Mahindra has now launched the 2025 Bolero and the 2025 Bolero Neo. While the new Bolero is priced from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Bolero Neo starts at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Bolero also comes with Mahindra's new RideFlo suspension setup, aimed at improving ride comfort and stability on rough roads. Under the hood, the SUV continues with the 1.5-litre mHawk75 diesel engine that produces 75bhp and 210Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Standard safety equipment includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and seat-belt reminders. The new model is offered in four colours -- Stealth Black, Diamond White, DSAT Silver, and Rocky Beige.
The following are the variant-wise 2025 Mahindra Bolero prices (ex-showroom).
B4 - Rs 7.99 lakh
B6 - Rs 8.69 lakh
B6(O) - Rs 9.09 lakh
B8 - Rs 9.69 lakh
Like the Bolero, the Neo also uses the RideFlo suspension system. Mahindra says braking response has been improved for smoother control. The SUV retains its 1.5-litre mHawk100 diesel engine that makes 100bhp and 260Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It also continues to use a body-on-frame chassis with Mahindra's multi-terrain technology.
