Kia India today announced the setting up of a charging ecosystem and EV-ready workshops ahead of the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, the carmaker's maiden mass-market electric model, on July 15.
The company has developed 'K-Charge' platform, which is integrated within the MyKia app, to offer access to over 11,000 charging points across India in collaboration with 18 charge point operators (CPOs). The charging points are located on both urban and highway routes.
The K-Charge electric vehicle (EV) charging points will be increased to over 20,000 units by mid-2026, the company said in an official statement.
The carmaker has also introduced 'EV Route Planner', accessible through the Kia website and MyKia app, to help EV customers locate charging stations, view real-time slot availability, and make payments directly through the app.
Besides, Kia has strengthened its network with over 250 EV-ready workshops across India, equipped with specialised tools, equipment, and trained EV technicians. More than 100 Kia dealerships are already equipped with DC fast chargers, ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW.
The Carens Clavis EV will be Kia's third electric model for the Indian market after the EV6 and the EV9. While the EV6 is priced at Rs 65.96 lakh (ex-showroom), the EV9 is available for Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). Both are completely built-up (CBU) models.
The made-in-India Carens Clavis EV will have a range of 490 km (ARAI-certified) with a 51.4 kWh battery pack. We expect the vehicle to get a smaller battery pack (possibly 42 kWh) from Hyundai's Creta Electric.
The exterior design of the Carens Clavis EV is similar to that of its internal combustion engine (ICE) version. However, there are several EV-focussed tweaks like a charging port at the front, below the KIA logo, and EV-specific alloy wheels.
The cabin layout of the Carens Clavis EV is also similar to that of the ICE version, with dual-tone interiors. There are features like a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display panel for infotainment and instrument cluster, front ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera and panoramic sunroof. We also expect the Carens Clavis EV to get Level-2 ADAS.
