The Hyundai Creta has achieved a major milestone, completing 10 years since its launch in India on July 21, 2015. Over the past decade, the mid-size SUV segment leader has garnered sales of over 1.2 million units in the domestic market.
When Hyundai introduced the Creta in 2015, the mid-size SUV segment had only three contenders. Fast forward to 2025, and this space now has 14 models. Yet, despite the influx of new rivals, the Hyundai Creta continues to lead the pack, maintaining its position as the highest-selling SUV in its segment every single year since 2016.
The numbers tell an impressive story -- more than 1.2 million units of the Creta have been sold in India to date. Annual sales of the Creta have more than doubled compared to 2016, demonstrating its popularity and strong customer trust. Also, 287,000 units of the Creta have been exported to over 13 international markets.
Two generations of the SUV have been launched, with the second-generation Hyundai Creta making its debut in 2020. During this time, Hyundai has also introduced special editions like the Creta Knight Edition (2022) and the Creta Adventure Edition (2023), to keep the line-up fresh.
The Creta's feature-rich profile has been another key factor in its success. Notably, about 70% of Hyundai Creta sales from January to June 2025 have come from sunroof-equipped variants.
Based in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, the Hyundai Creta rivals the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Curvv and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, among others.
You can have the Hyundai Creta in electric and internal combustion engine (petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel) powertrains. While the standard model is priced between Rs 11.11 lakh and Rs 20.50 lakh, the Creta Electric sits in the price bracket of Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.38 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
