With the Civil Aviation Ministry giving nod to fly Airbus A-380 in Indian airspace, stage is set for travellers in India to experience boarding in world`s largest passenger airline. Here we are trying to outline the weather compatibility of Airbus with its features.
Vagaries of weather trouble all the air operations across the board without any distinction. However, the wide bodied airplanes like Airbus-380 are able to take on small weather perturbations without much discomfort to the passengers as they can negotiate weather pockets with more ease than the smaller planes. Still, the guiding principles remains that pronounce to stay away from weather unless it is really inescapable.
Airbus-380 has been cleared for operations on the chosen airports of India that is Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad as these airports have longer take off and landing runways which will be required for Airbus-380.
If there is very dense fog in Delhi, smaller airplanes usually get diverted to Lucknow or Jaipur but in such situations Airbus-380 will have more choices of diversion due to its more fuel capacity. Airbus has a fuel capacity of 320000 litres and it could fly up to 15700 km at one go.
The diversion of Airbus-380 should be preemptive and pre-planned to avoid the weather as it has a large radius and will need sufficient lead time to make a turn towards other directions. The maximum take off weight of Airbus-380 is 560 tonnes while maximum landing weight is 386 tonnes. The plane has a height of 24 meters and length of 72 meters.
