PM Modi to visit Daman, Surat on February 24-25

PM Modi will inaugurate projects worth Rs 1,000 crore in Daman city on February 24 and flag off the marathon in Surat the next day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Surat in Gujarat and Daman in Union territory of Daman and Diu this weekend to inaugurate various projects and flag off a night marathon.

Modi will inaugurate projects worth Rs 1,000 crore in Daman city on February 24 and flag off the marathon in Surat the next day.

"On February 24, Modi will lay the foundation stones for projects including a water treatment plant, a gas pipeline, an electric sub-station, a municipal market, a foot bridge among others," S S Yadav, Adviser to Administrator of
Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, said today.

The PM will also launch a helicopter service between Daman and Diu, and an Air Odisha flight service connecting Ahmedabad with Diu, he said.

Modi will inaugurate anganwadis and schools constructed under the corporate social responsibility (CSR), Yadav said.

During his visit to Daman, the prime minister is scheduled to distribute e-rickshaws to women and scooters to differently-abled beneficiaries, he said, adding that Modi is also scheduled to interact with bright students.

On Sunday, Modi will flag off "Run for New India," being organised by Surat Future Foundation LLP, its organisers said.

The marathon will be held in four categories – 42.2 km (full marathon), 21.1 km (half marathon), and 10-km and 5-km fun run, they said.
