September 21, 2017 / 16:58 IST

Follow the India vs Pakistan scorecard here.

22.15 So after coming into the tournament as rank underdogs -- they entered just edging past West Indies as the lowest seed -- Pakistan end up as the winner of the Champions Trophy 2017.

After a 120-run loss to India at Edgbaston in the qualifying round, they went on to beat Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and then India in the final.

Today's match was a one-sided affair, with Pakistan outperforming India in all three departments.

Put in to bat by Kohli, Pakistan rode on an aggressive 114 from youngster Fakhar Zaman, who got an early reprieve. Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and Imad Wasim too chipped in with handy knocks while a late 57-run dash lifted Pakistan to a solid 338.

The Pakistani bowlers, who have done very well since after the early India match, came in with all guns blazing. Mohammad Amir dismantled the top order, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan with pace and swing. After that, it was difficult for India to come back into the game.

Hasan Ali, very un-Pakistani-esque given his focus on line and length, took three to make sure India could not rebuild. Hasan had a superb tournament, finishing as the highest wicket-taker and taking home the man-of-the-series award.

The Indian batting, barring Hardik Pandya, was pedestrian even as the pitch did not offer much movement and had carry. As Virat Kohli said in the post-match conference, it was just an aggressive display by Pakistan that did the team in.

All in all, it turned out to be a momentous display for Pakistan, whose fans have struggled to find much joy from a team whose fortunes wax and wane. But India, who put in a solid display of cricketing skills right through the tournament, would go home heads held high as the runner-up.

21.27 OUT! Bumrah is caught behind. Tried to fend off an awkwardly rising Hasan Ali delivery. That is that. INDIA ALL OUT FOR 158

PAKISTAN WIN BY 180 RUNS TO LIFT THE CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2017

21.24 Junaid comes in. Looks to wind up things. Bowls a mix of full and short deliveries. A single off the penultimate delivery, which was almost a catch at mid-off but landed safely. One off the last.

After 30 overs, India 158/9 (Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1, Jasprit Bumrah 1)

21.20 OUT! Hasan gets Ashwin. Classic Test delivery. Pitched on the up and holding its line. Edged to the keeper.

After 29 overs, India 156/8 (Ravichandran Ashwin 1, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0)

21.15 Junaid maintains a tight line, giving away two runs, and taking one wicket.

After 28 overs, India 156/8 (Ravichandran Ashwin 1, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0)

21.11 Two dots to finish the 27th over. Big wicket there. Pakistan will be looking to finish this up soon. Bring back Junaid for the next.

After 27 overs, India 155/7 (Ravindra Jadeja 15, Ravichandran Ashwin 0)

21.06 OUT! Hardik is run out. Jadeja drives on to cover but doesn't run. Hardik does. He is livid. He was going strong.

Ashwin is in. This may be all over for India.

21.03 Fakhar continues. Pandya is undertaking rearguard action. Heaves the last two balls for two massive sixes.

It could be a case of too late but Hardik is giving India some hope here.

After 26 overs, India 152/6 (Hardik Pandya 76, Ravindra Jadeja 13)

21.02 Sarfraz continues with Shadab despite an expensive last over. Three dots and three singles.

After 25 overs, India 137/6 (Hardik Pandya 63, Ravindra Jadeja 11)

20.58 Zaman bowls the 24th. Six singles off each delivery.

After 24 overs, India 134/6 (Hardik Pandya 62, Ravindra Jadeja 9)

20.56 Shadab comes in for his sixth over. But Hardik, who has settled down nicely, takes him on. Launches three deliveries straight into the stands beyond long-on. Creams one for four. Brings up his 50 in 33 balls. The fastest ever in the Champions Trophy.

23 off the over.

After 23 overs, India 128/6 (Hardik Pandya 59, Ravindra Jadeja 6)

20.53 Fakhar comes in. Bowls a tight line. Gives away three.

20.50 Shadab bowls his fifth. Good over for India. 9 off it, including one four. Hardik Pandya is looking strong.

After 21 overs, India 102/6 (Hardik Pandya 34 , Ravindra Jadeja 5)

20.46 Imad Wasim comes on, bowls three balls, departs after what looks like a sprain. Fakhar Zaman, another left-arm orthodox, replaces him for the over.

Four off it.

After 20 overs, India 93/6 (Hardik Pandya 27, Ravindra Jadeja 3)

20.41 Shadab continues. Hardik lofts the third ball for a six. The batsmen take a couple of singles since.

After 19 overs, India 89/6 (Hardik Pandya 24, Ravindra Jadeja 2)

20.38 Hasan Ali continues with his 4th over. 8 runs off it. Including an edge that went to the four. Still, Hardik is looking solid here. But it's going to take nothing short of a miracle to get India this match. Jadeja comes in at the other end.

After 18 overs, India 80/6 (Hardik Pandya 17, Ravindra Jadeja 0)

20.33 OUT! Spoken too soon. Shadab drops in a flighted turner. Kedar goes for the heave but ends up getting a top-edge. Sarfraz takes it.

After 17 overs, India 72/6 (Hardik Pandya 9)

20.30 Some Indian supporters are seen leaving the stadium. Not surprising given half the team is back in the hut. But is too soon? Remember Yuvraj and Kaif's knock about 15 years ago?

20.25 Shadab bowls his 2nd over. Maintains a tight line, except for one bowl, which Kedaj Jadhav pulls for four.

SCORE: 62-5 after 15 overs

Power play is over

20.22 In some consolation, India has thrashed Pakistan 7-1 in the hockey match that's also taking place today. Report soon.

20.17 OUT! That's not all. India are suffering a brain-freeze here. MS Dhoni pulls a rising Hasan Ali delivery. Fielder at deep square leg completes an excellent catch.

This is going down very bad for India.

SCORE: 55-5 after 14 overs

20.15 OUT! Pakistan is playing aggressive cricket here. Shadab flights a few deliveries. Beats Yuvraj with a wrong-un, before trapping him plumb in front with one that turned in. The umpire thought it was bat-first but Shadab confidently asked his captain to opt for DRS. Decision over-turned.

India are now four down.

SCORE: 54/4 after 13 overs.

20:10 Pakistan make another change. Bring young leg-spinner Shadab on. Bold move.

20:09 Hassan comes on, replacing Hafeez who gave away an expensive 1st over. Yuvraj pulls one to deep mid-wicket for a couple. Hassan is maintaining the off line with some skiddiness. Probably is looking for some movement off the pitch. India get three runs off that over.

After 12 overs, India 50/3 (Yuvraj Singh 21 MS Dhoni (W) 1)

20:04 Amir bowls a maiden over. Dhoni plays with a straight bat. It's Amir's 6th over. He may not come back for a 7th.

SCORE: 47-3 after 11 overs

20.00 Hafeez's over took some pressure off India. 14 off it. Amir continues from the other end. The batsmen will be keen to see him off. Hasan Ali, the tournament's leading wicket-taker, seen warming up.

19:58 Sarfraz takes Junaid off and brings in Hafeez. Is it a good move when the pacers were going strong? Perhaps not. Yuvraj creams three fours off the over. Drives to deep extra cover, long-on and between long-on and deep midwicket.

19:54 OUT! Dhawan departs. Amir strikes with his third wicket. The bowler puts in a few stump-to-stump deliveries before pushing a fast, skiddy one that angles away from Dhawan and takes an edge. Is pouched by Sarfraz

19:49 Dhawan has settled in nicely here. Stays on top of two rising deliveries and cuts them through cover point for fours. This would help relieve some pressure off India. Junaid is bowling a little short here. Yuvraj ends the over with two dots.

After 8 overs, India 31/2 (Shikhar Dhawan 20, Yuvraj Singh 5)

19:46 Amir continues. He's running in hard and hitting the deck and not giving room. Yuvraj plays behind the line. One off the over.

After 7 overs, India 22/2 (Shikhar Dhawan 11, Yuvraj Singh 5)

19:42 Junaid continues. Yuvraj punches one to mid-on but gets no run off the second ball. He top-edges another one and the ball flies over Sarfraz for a four. 5 runs off this Junaid over.

After 6 overs, India 21/2 ( Shikhar Dhawan 11 , Yuvraj Singh 5)

19:37 Yuvraj refuses to take a single that was easy. But, Dhawan dispatches Amir’s third ball for a boundary beyond square-leg. He drives another one for a four at cover. He collects a single off the last ball after the ball flies past Shadab Khan. Good over for India.

After 5 overs,India 16/2 ( Shikhar Dhawan 10 , Yuvraj Singh 1)

19:33 Yuvraj Singh is the new batsman at the crease. Junaid tests Yuvraj with a short ball. In the process, India plays a maiden.

The two left-handed batsmen will want to settle down now. They wouldn’t mind even if they score at three runs an over for the next few overs.

After 4 overs,India 7/2 ( Shikhar Dhawan 1 , Yuvraj Singh 1)

19:28 Outside edge on the first ball takes the ball towards the boundary beyond point as Kohli picks up two. Kohli edges on two the first slip and gets dropped!

Kohli edges the next ball to Shadab Khan at point. No mistake this time. Gone! This is a massive wicket. Pakistan are on top now. Three runs of the over.

After 3 overs,India 7/2 ( Shikhar Dhawan 1 , Yuvraj Singh 1)

19:26 Wicket! Kohli edges one to point, caught!

V Kohli c Shadab Khan b Mohammad Amir 5 (9)

19:22 Junaid Khan who has an impressive record against Virat Kohli opens the attack from the other end. Two slips are in place for Kohli. Dhawan slaps a short ball to backward short-leg for a single. Yet again, just two off the over.

After 2 overs,India 4/1 ( Shikhar Dhawan 1 , Virat Kohli (C) 3)

19:18 Rohit Sharma left the first two balls outside the off-stump. Third ball came into him and got him out lbw. He decided not to take a review. World’s number one batsman in the ODI format Virat Kohli walks in and gets away immediately. Two runs of the over with a wicket!

After 1 over,India 2/1 ( Shikhar Dhawan 0 , Virat Kohli (C) 2)

19:14 Wicket! Rohit Sharma lbw Amir 0 (3)

After 0.3 overs

19:12 Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are opening the batting for India while Mohammad Amir will open the bowling for Pakistan.

19:08 We are set for a cracking contest as players from both teams are taking to the field now.

18:55 In a brilliant batting performance, Azhar Ali (59) and Fakhar Zaman (114) gave Pakistan the start they would have hoped for after Zaman survived a no-ball.  The duo’s composure helped them build a platform.

As Ali got out after a mix-up, Babar Azam (46) and Zaman made it a point to score a couple of boundaries of the first few ball of every over to keep pressure on India. A systematic approach by them and Shoaib Malik (12) helped them sail through as India tightened their grip. But it was Mohammad Hafeez (57*) and Imad Wasim (25*)’s partnership that took Pakistan to the massive total.

India probably has one of the best batting line-ups in the tournament. India’s top three batsmen had scored more runs than Pakistan’s entire team put together, before this match. However, on a stage like this, chasing such a total will not be easy.

Pakistan will look to pick early wickets and expose India’s middle-order which hasn’t had the opportunity to bat much so far in the tournament.
Overall, we are up for a contest between the tournament’s best bowling line-up versus the tournament’s best batting line-up.

18:42 Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls a perfect yorker to start the over. Hafeez reaches the ball wide outside off on the third ball for a six straight down the ground. Kumar answers with a bouncer. No run off that ball probably is more important for India. Imad Wasim collects just one off the last ball.

After 50 overs, Pakistan 338/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 57, Imad Wasim 25)

18:35 Bumrah comes in to bowl the penultimate over of the inning. Ball hits the stump but the bails fails to dislodge! Wasim slices for one run on a no ball. Gets just two runs on the free hit ball. Half-century for Mohammad Hafeez in 34 balls as he misses Adam Gilchrist’s record for the fastest fifty in ICC ODI events final by two balls.

After 49 overs, Pakistan 329/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 50, Imad Wasim 23)

18:30: Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls his ninth over. He gives away just four singles off the first four balls. Fifth ball hits Imad Wasim on the helmet as he attempts a back flip. Just five runs off it. Brilliant over for India!

After 48 overs, Pakistan 318/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 46, Imad Wasim 20)

18:26 Bumrah comes in to bowl his eighth over. Three singles off the first three balls. Imad Wasim hits a slower ball straight down the ground for a four. What a powerful shot it was! Eight runs off it.

After 47 overs, Pakistan 313/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 44, Imad Wasim 18)

18:22 Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back again. Hafeez stays still and pulls one hard over square-leg for a six to put Kumar under pressure. But, Kumar replies with two good yorker length deliveries. Jadhav saves two runs in the deep. Hafeez is nearing his half-century very quickly.

Pakistan now nearing 300 but they know that will not be enough. With four overs to go after this, they will want to reach 350.

After 46 overs, Pakistan 305/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 42, Imad Wasim 12)

18:18 Jadhav continues! Hafeez goes big! A six over mid-wicket. Imad follows suit with a six straight down the ground! 16 off the over.

After 45 overs, Pakistan 294/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 32, Imad Wasim 11)

18:13: Bumrah is back into the attack. Hafeez times it well and gets a boundary at deep mid-wicket, on the second ball. Few more singles give Pakistan eight off the over.

After 44 overs, Pakistan 278/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 24, Imad Wasim 3)

18:11: Jadhav is back into the attack. After a dot and a single, Babar was looking to go big. But he ends up hitting one straight to Yuvraj Singh in the deep. Jadhav has yet again picked a key wicket at a crucial moment! Imad Wasim is the new batsman at the crease.

After 43 overs, Pakistan 270/4 (Mohammad Hafeez 18, Imad Wasim 1)

18:06: Wicket! Babar Azam hits it straight to Yuvraj Singh in the deep!

Babar Azam c Yuvraj Singh b Jadhav 46 (52)

18:05: Kumar continues as expected. Hafeez sweeps a boundary aEdit Edit date and timet fine-leg on the third ball. A wide and a few singles help Pakistan score nine runs off the over.

Pakistan could still reach around 350 by scoring 10 runs per over from here.

After 42 overs, Pakistan 266/3 (Babar Azam 46, Mohammad Hafeez 15)

18:00 Mohammad Hafeez is the new batsman in at the crease. Jadeja is back to bowl his eighth over. First ball, Hafeez goes down the ground for a four at long-off. Again on the fourth ball, Hafeez picks a boundary at fine-leg.

After 41 overs, Pakistan 257/3 (Babar Azam 44, Mohammad Hafeez 9)

17:57 Bhuvneshwar Kumar back into the attack and is likely to bowl five overs on the trot. He had conceded just 10 runs off his first 5 overs. Malik gets beaten by Kumar’s length. Next ball, Shoaib Malik hits one straight to Kedar Jadhav at cover point. Very important wicket for India as the partnership was about to shift gears. Just one run off the over.

After 40 overs, Pakistan 247/3 (Babar Azam 43, Mohammad Hafeez 0)

17:54 Wicket! Shoaib Malik hits one straight to Kedar Jadhav at cover point.

Shoaib Malik c Jadhav b Kumar 12 (16)

17:50: Kedar Jadhav brought into the attack. He had delivered a key breakthrough against Bangladesh in the semi-final. Malik cuts one but is stopped by Rohit Sharma in the 30-yard-circle. Both Malik and Babar are happy to pick singles though. Two wides help Pakistan score seven of this over.

After 39 overs, Pakistan 246/2 (Babar Azam 42, Shoaib Malik 12)

17:46: Babar starts with two consecutive boundaries off Pandya, one on the off-side followed by one on the leg-side towards the smaller boundary. Looks like Babar wants to launch a full-fledged attack now as Pandya comes under pressure. 12 runs to finish his spell.

After 38 overs, Pakistan 239/2 (Babar Azam 39, Shoaib Malik 10)

17:42: Malik slams one over deep extra cover for a six. While Babar has steadily climbed towards 30 now. 10 runs an over will take Pakistan beyond 350.

After 37 overs, Pakistan 227/2 (Babar Azam 28, Shoaib Malik 10)

17:38 Pandya is now in his ninth over, looking for another wicket. Babar gets two on deep off-side before pulling one above mid-wicket for a boundary. Seven off the over.

After 36 overs,Pakistan 216/2 ( Babar Azam 25 , Shoaib Malik 2)

17:35: Bumrah brought in by Kohli as Indian fielders closely guard the 30-yard-circle. First four for Babar Azam at square-leg, capitalizing on a loose yorker. Seven off the over.

After 35 overs, Pakistan 209/2 (Babar Azam 18, Shoaib Malik 2)

17:30 Shoaib Malik is the new batsman at the crease. Just two runs off the over after a very important wicket. Excellent over for India.

Is this the turning point? India will be looking to exploit the situation as Babar Azam 11 (23) and Malik look to settle down. Will Kohli bring in Jadeja to run through the overs quicker?

After 34 overs, Pakistan 202/2 (Babar Azam 12, Shoaib Malik 1)

17:25 Wicket! Zaman slogs it into the air, and Jadeja takes it! Danger man Zaman is walking back to the pavilion.

Fakhar Zaman c Jadeja b Pandya 114 (106)

17:24 Ashwin’s last over. First ball sails over deep sweeper for a six! Three singles follow as Pakistan reach 200.

After 33 overs, Pakistan 200/1 (Fakhar Zaman 114, Babar Azam 11)

17:20 Pandya is back into the attack. Zaman pulls one towards silly mid-on, ball lands safely. Shikhar Dhawan does well in the deep to save a boundary on the last ball.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik has replaced Jasprit Bumrah on the field. Bumrah is being attended to by the Indian team physio.

After 32 overs, Pakistan 191/1 (Fakhar Zaman 106, Babar Azam 10)

17:14 Zaman sweeps one to the boundary and completes his century off just 92 balls! What a brilliant knock this has been. With another 19 overs to go after this, India will be worried about what Zaman will do next. Seven off the over.

After 31 overs, Pakistan 186/1 (Fakhar Zaman 103, Babar Azam 8)

17:08: Babar gets beaten off Pandya. India would love to have Babar on strike who played eight dots in a row. Just 3 runs off this over.

After 30 overs, Pakistan 179/1 (Fakhar Zaman 96, Babar Azam 8)

17:04: Ashwin into his 8th over continues to bowl tight to Babar. Just one run off it. Excellent over for India. After 29 overs, Pakistan 176/1 (Fakhar Zaman 95, Babar Azam 7)

17:01 Zaman moves into the 90s as another one flies above Dhoni for a four. It’s raining boundaries for Pakistan as the team score crosses 175 well within 30 overs.

After 28 overs, Pakistan 175/1 (Fakhar Zaman 94, Babar Azam 7)

16:57 Zaman dances down yet again, and cuts one for a boundary at long-on before placing another one towards third-man. 13 off Ashwin’s seventh over. After 27 overs, Pakistan 167/1 (Fakhar Zaman 89, Babar Azam 4)

16:52 Zaman dances down the wicket and punches one into the sight screen. He moves onto his back foot and follows the six with a four on the off-side. He scores another four on the off-side on the last ball. The pressure built by Ashwin and Jadeja since Ali’s wicket has been relieved. This will also give Babar Azam enough room to settle down.

After 26 overs, Pakistan 150/1 (Fakhar Zaman 76, Babar Azam 2)

16:48 Just five runs off the over helped by some tight fielding by India. They are clearly sensing a chance to capitalize on Ali’s wicket.

After 25 overs, Pakistan 134/1 (Fakhar Zaman 61, Babar Azam 1)

16:45 Babar Azam is the new batsman at crease as Jadeja builds pressure on Zaman by bowling very tight, into him. Just a single off the over.

After 24 overs, Pakistan 129/1 (Fakhar Zaman 57, Babar Azam 0)

16:43 Ashwin gave away just three runs in this over. More importantly, India picked their first wicket after a mix-up.

16:41 Wicket! Miscommunication between the two batsmen capitalized by Bumrah and Dhoni.

Azhar Ali 59 (71) run out

This is a fresh pitch, meaning it has not been in this tournament before. It has been sunny in this part of the Isle in the last few days. This has created dark patches on the pitch especially towards the Pavilion end.

There is some dead grass too. Overall, it is a welcoming pitch for two teams from the sub-continent.

13:58 So then, will India and Pakistan give us a repeat of the 2007 T20 final? Read here.

13:45 Television advertising rates for Sunday's cricket final between India and Pakistan are 10 times the normal price, industry sources said, as millions of fans are expected to tune in for a clash that last time ranked among the six most-watched sporting events.

A 30-second spot during the final to be broadcast by Rupert Murdoch's Star Sports is expected to cost nearly Rs 100 lakh USD 155,267, far higher than the 10 lakh rupees that advertisers pay on average for most Indian shows, said a person involved in buying ads.

13:30 Here's a look at the squads that the two teams have their disposal:

India: Virat Kohli (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dinesh Karthik, Mohammed Shami, Ajinkya Rahane, Umesh Yadav.

Pakistan: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Ahmed Shahzad, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Mohammed Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Hasan Ali, Mohammed Amir, Rumman Raees, Junaid Khan, Imad Wasim, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail.

13:15 Pakistan have a dismal 2-13 record against India in various ICC tournaments (World Cup, Champions Trophy and World T20), which makes the 'Men In Blue' firm favourites. India's batting line-up, as expected, has fired big time in this Champions Trophy with Shikhar Dhawan (317 runs) and Rohit Sharma (304 runs) topping the run charts. Skipper Kohli, with 253 runs, makes it three Indians in top-5.

13:00 Here's a recap of that final in Johannesburg:

Everything was at stake for both nations as the teams met in the final of the World T20. Gautam Gambhir's 75 runs followed by a late knock by Rohit Sharma helped India post 157 even as Umar Gul picked up 3-28. Pakistan lost two early wickets before Imran Nazir and Younis Khan scored 33 and 24, respectively. Pakistan kept losing wickets in the remainder of the innings while Misbah-ul-Haq continued his assault.

Pakistan needed 13 off the last six balls with one wicket in hand, when Joginder Sharma whose bowling economy was sky-high, was given the ball in what was probably Dhoni's greatest gamble. The equation was down to six in four balls when Misbah attempted to scoop one over short fine-leg where S Sreesanth was positioned. The catch was taken and India had lifted the first ever World Twenty20 title.

12:45 Now, as the two teams meet again on Sunday, the question on everyone's mind is what kind of game will we get? Will it be a repeat of the group stage where India romped to victory or will Pakistan turn the tables? The neutral will want a thriller, and we've had plenty of those between these two teams in the years gone by.

One of those was just short of ten years ago, when India lifted the first-ever World Twenty20 after a last-gasp victory over Pakistan in the final.

12:30 India stayed true to form and Pakistan seemed to be doing same after suffering a thrashing by their neighbours in their opening group game. But everything changed over the next few games as Sarfraz Ahmed's inexperienced men went on to beat South Africa, Sri Lanka and favourites England in succession to make it to the summit clash.

12:15 It's the final that everyone wanted but no one expected.

At the outset of the tournament, India were among the favourites to win the 2017 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan, on the other hand, weren't given a shot. They just about sneaked into the tournament as the lowest-seeded team at the expense of the West Indies, who were just two points behind them in the ICC ODI Rankings.

So after coming into the tournament as rank underdogs -- they entered just edging past West Indies as the lowest seed -- Pakistan end up as the winner of the Champions Trophy 2017.

After a 120-run loss to India at Edgbaston in the qualifying round, they went on to beat Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and then India in the final.

Today's match was a one-sided affair, with Pakistan outperforming India in all three departments.

Put in to bat by Kohli, Pakistan rode on an aggressive 114 from youngster Fakhar Zaman, who made the most of an early reprieve. Azhar Ali, Babar Azam and Imad Wasim too chipped in with handy knocks while a late 57-run dash by Mohammed Hafeez lifted Pakistan to a solid 338.

The Pakistani bowlers, who have done very well since after the early India match, came in with all guns blazing. Mohammed Amir dismantled the top order, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawanwith pace and swing. After that, it was difficult for India to come back into the game.

Hasan Ali, un-Pakistani-esque in his line-and-length bowling style but someone who ran in with characteristic aggression, took three to make sure India could not rebuild. Hasan had a superb tournament, finishing as the highest wicket-taker and taking home the man-of-the-series award.

The Indian batting, barring Hardik Pandya, was pedestrian even as the pitch did not offer much movement. As Virat Kohli said in the post-match conference, it was just the probing, aggressive bowling display by Pakistan that did the Indian batting in.

All in all, it turned out to be a momentous display for Pakistan, whose fans have struggled to find much joy in a team whose fortunes wax and wane. But India, who put in a solid display of cricketing skills right through the tournament, would go home heads held high as the runner-up.

    23 off the over.
