Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that at a time of global uncertainty, India’s latest GDP numbers show the country is moving ahead with renewed momentum and rising as a major driver of global economic growth.

Addressing the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, PM Modi highlighted that the Q2 GDP growth rate of 8 per cent was “not just a number” but a strong macroeconomic signal of India’s accelerating progress.

Modi said the transformation taking place in the country is the real story of changing lives and evolving mindsets. He added that one-fourth of the twenty-first century has already passed, a period in which the world witnessed financial crises, a pandemic and multiple disruptions, yet India continues to strengthen its position with deep self-confidence.

“When the world speaks of slowdown, India writes a story of growth. When there is a crisis of trust, India becomes a pillar of trust,” he said. Modi added that India is emerging as a bridge-builder in a fragmented global environment and that the reforms undertaken today are shaping the nation’s future.

Prime Minister Modi also paid tribute to Baba Saheb B.R. Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas. He stated, "The transformation taking place in India is not merely about possibilities; it is a real story of changing lives, evolving mindsets, and a nation moving in a new direction. Today marks the Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution. I offer my tributes to him on behalf of all Indians."

He continued, "Today, we find ourselves at a point when a quarter of the twenty-first century has already passed. In these twenty-five years, the world has witnessed many ups and downs, including financial crises and a global pandemic. Each of these situations has posed challenges to the global community in different ways. Amid this atmosphere of uncertainty, our nation is emerging as a leader. India is progressing with deep self-confidence."
