Who is Joseph Naso? The 'Alphabet Killer' claims to have killed 26 women, not 4, in shocking new revelations

Joseph Naso, now 91 and serving time in California following his conviction in 2013, is famously known as the “Alphabet Killer.” He was found guilty of murdering four women whose first and last names each began with the same letter -- Roxene Roggasch, Carmen Colon, Pamela Parsons, and Tracy Tafoya.

Now, new disclosures revealed through an upcoming documentary suggest the scope of his crimes may be far greater. Fellow inmate Bill Noguera, who befriended Naso over more than a decade at San Quentin prison, says Naso claimed to have murdered 26 women in total -- quite a leap from the four officially linked to him.

Naso allegedly kept a grisly “Greatest Hits” list of his presumed victims. Noguera said, “They got him for one of mine,” indicating Naso’s anger when one of the murders on that list was wrongly attributed to fellow inmate and serial killer Rodney Alcala, also known as the “Dating Game Killer.”

One victim from that list, Pamela Lambson, 19, was allegedly lured by Naso under the pretense of being the official photographer for the Oakland A’s.

Noguera recalls Naso saying: “She just drove me crazy about being an entertainer, and these photographs were because she was going to be a star, and she was dating one of the players from the A’s. So I posed her, now she’s getting all the entertainment and all the exposure she needs.”

Other chilling details emerged from the docuseries, Death Row Confidential: Secrets of a Serial Killer, set to premiere on Oxygen on September 13. This series highlights how Noguera’s painstaking notes—over 300 pages of conversations and clues—were used by cold-case detective Ken Mains to connect Naso to new unsolved cases, including potentially Charlotte Cook, who vanished in Oakland in 1974.

The partnership between inmate Noguera and detective Mains has shone a light on Naso’s possible status as one of America’s most prolific serial killers, far exceeding the four murders for which he was convicted.
