The US Embassy in India has clarified that obtaining a visa does not guarantee permanent entry into the United States. In a fresh travel advisory issued on Saturday, the Embassy stated that “visa screening does not stop” even after the visa is granted.
"US visa screening does not stop after a visa is issued. We continuously check visa holders to ensure they follow all U.S. laws and immigration rules – and we will revoke their visas and deport them if they don’t," the embassy shared in the X post.

This development follows the ongoing crackdown on illegal immigration under President Donald Trump's administration.
Previously, the US Embassy in India had required visa applicants to provide their social media usernames and handles from the past five years as part of enhanced background verification.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used in the last five years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit,” the embassy said in a social media post on X.
“Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas,” it further added.
