Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has announced plans to return home “as soon as possible” and criticised interim president Delcy Rodríguez, following Nicolás Maduro’s capture by US forces.
Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity from an undisclosed location, Machado said, “I’m planning to go back to Venezuela as soon as possible.” She openly rejected Rodríguez’s leadership, calling her “one of the main architects of torture, persecution, corruption, narcotrafficking.”
Machado claimed that Rodríguez lacks public support and emphasised the opposition’s backing, stating, “In free and fair elections, we will win by over 90 percent of the votes, I have no doubt about it.”
Outlining her vision for Venezuela, she vowed to “turn Venezuela into the energy hub of the Americas” and “dismantle all these criminal structures” that have devastated the nation. Machado also pledged to “bring millions of Venezuelans that have been forced to flee our country back home,” positioning herself as a central figure in the country’s political transition.
