Iran War Live: Indian among 2 killed after projectile hits Saudi city of Al-Kharj

A projectile killed two people and injured 12 more in Saudi Arabia's Al Kharj governorate south of Riyadh, the kingdom's civil defence said on Sunday, as Iran continued to launch missiles and drones at its Gulf neighbours.

The civil defence agency said an Indian and a Bangladeshi national were killed by an unspecified "military projectile" that hit a residential area, according to the statement, which did not mention Iran by name.

Al Kharj governorate is home to a massive air base and has been targeted repeatedly over the past week as Tehran struck the Gulf after Israel and the US launched a campaign against the Islamic republic. -- AFP

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that Iran's next supreme leader "is not going to last long" if Tehran does not get his approval first. "He’s going to have to get approval from us," Trump told ABC News. "If he doesn’t get approval from us he’s not going to last long."

His comments came as the Iranian clerical body responsible for choosing the successor to slain supreme leader Ali Khamenei was reported to have voted and would soon announce a name.

Iran's foreign minister said Sunday that its missiles cannot reach the United States as he defended strikes that have hit Gulf neighbors during the war in the Middle East.

"It is Americans who started this war against us, attacking us, and we are defending ourselves. So it is obvious that our missiles cannot reach the US soil," Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told NBC's "Meet the Press."

"What we can do is to attack American bases and American installations around us, which are unfortunately in the soil of our, you know, neighbor countries."-- AFP

The Israeli military said on Sunday it had struck what it described as the "space force headquarters" of Iran's Revolutionary Guards in Tehran.

"As part of the strikes, the IDF targeted and dismantled the Iranian terror regime's IRGC Space Force headquarters," the military said.

"The headquarters served as a reception, transmission and research centre for the Iranian Space Agency, which is affiliated with the regime's military," it said.

Israel's military said Sunday that two of its soldiers were killed in combat in southern Lebanon, the first Israeli troops to have died since fighting flared with armed group Hezbollah.

"Master Sergeant Maher Khatar, aged 38, from Majdal Shams, a soldier from the Combat Engineering Corps in the 91st division, fell during combat in southern Lebanon," a military statement said, adding that a second soldier was killed in the same incident.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday that they had launched missiles towards the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Bersheeva, as well as an airbase in Jordan. "The 28th wave of the Operation Honest Promise 4 was launched by the next-generation missiles of the Guards aerospace force against the areas of Beersheva, Tel Aviv, and the Al-Azraq airbase," the Guards said in a statement, according to state TV.

The body tasked with selecting Iran's new supreme leader has reached a decision, members said Sunday, although the name has yet to be announced.

"The most suitable candidate, approved by the majority of the Assembly of Experts, has been determined," said Mohsen Heydari, a member of the selection body who represents Khuzestan province, according to Iran's ISNA news agency.

Another member, Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, confirmed in a video carried by Iran's Fars news agency that "a firm opinion reflecting the majority view has been reached". -- AFP

Following Israel's attacks on Iran's oil facilities, Tehran Governor slashed the fuel quota for residents. Fuel quota with personal card has been reduced from 30 litres per day to 20 litres , said an official quoted by Fars new agency. The official was also quoted as saying that people should not worry about fuel as disruptions in fuel supply will be resolved quickly, promising to revert the measure after “two or three days”.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has warned civilians to take precautions, saying rain could become toxic after explosions at oil facilities. Such rain could cause chemical burns to the skin and damage to the lungs, it said.

According to Al Jazeera, the agency gave the following instructions:

-During rainfall after explosions, do not leave your home under any circumstances.

-If you are outdoors, immediately take shelter under concrete or metal roofs and avoid sheltering under trees.

-If rain comes into contact with the skin, do not rub the affected area under any circumstances and rinse it only with a continuous stream of cold water.

-Immediately change clothes that have been soaked by the rain and place them in a sealed bag.

Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said Israel’s attacks on Iran’s oil facilities were an escalation in the war and “we will see additional escalations in the coming days.”

Six flights, operated by Qatar Airways, landed safely in Doha on Sunday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the ongoing US-Israeli military offensive against Iran should “never have happened” and called for an “immediate” end to hostilities as well as a return to the negotiating table.

The Israel Defence Forces launched a fresh wave of strikes across Iran, targeting infrastructure across the country.

The UAE Defence Ministry announced that their air defenses had been activated against incoming drones and missiles from Iran.

Saudi Arabia has told Tehran that while it favours a diplomatic settlement to Iran's conflict with the United States, continued attacks on the kingdom and ​its energy sector could push Riyadh to respond in kind. According to Reuters, the message was conveyed before a speech on ‌Saturday in which Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologised to neighbouring Gulf states for Tehran’s actions -- an apparent attempt to defuse regional anger over Iranian strikes that hit civilian targets.

Indian Embassy in Qatar seeks details of stranded passengers

Amid the escalating tension between US-Israel and Iran, the Indian Embassy in Qatar has sought details of Indian nationals stranded in the country. A statement issued by the Embassy said, "Indian Nationals who are currently stranded in Qatar as Tourists/Short Term Visitors (holding Hayya A1 visa) due to cancellation of flights out of Qatar between 28 February to 7 March 2026, are encouraged to fill in their details at the link provided herewith. Please note that this is only for the purpose of ascertaining the exact number and details of stranded Indian Nationals who are not residents of Qatar."

The Kuwaiti Air Defence detected three ballistic missiles that penetrated the country's airspace, where they were intercepted and destroyed.

Flames engulf Kuwait high-rise amid wave of Iranian strikes

Flames engulfed Kuwait’s Public Institution for Social Security high-rise headquarters after it was hit by a suspected drone amid a wave of Iranian aerial strikes on the country.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) struck key commanders in the Quds Force's Lebanon Corps of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who were operating in Beirut. In a post on X, the IDF said, "Commanders of the Quds Force's Lebanon Corps operated to advance terror plots against the State of Israel and its citizens in Lebanese territory, parallel to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' activities in Iran."

"The Iranian terror regime operates systematically in the heart of civilian populations in Iran and Lebanon, cynically exploiting the residents and using them as human shields to advance terror objectives. The Lebanon Corps serves as a liaison axis between the Hezbollah terror organization and the Iranian terror regime and constitutes a body supporting Hezbollah's empowerment and force buildup," said the IDF in its post.

"The IDF will not allow the entrenchment of Iranian terror elements in Lebanese territory and will continue to eliminate in a targeted manner the commanders of the Iranian terror regime wherever they operate," it said.

Sources in the Israel Defence Force (IDF) said that its air force attacked significant oil resources in Tehran. According to a post in the Jerusalem Post, the IDF said oil resources being attacked were directly connected to Iran's military industrial complex.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it launched attacks on a refinery in Israel's Haifa in response to the targeting of one in Tehran. The IRGC said the Haifa refinery was hit by Khyber-Shakan missiles in response to an Israeli attack.

The Israel Defence Forces has sounded sirens after it identified missiles that were launched from Iran towards Israel. In a post on X, the IDF said air defense systems are operating to intercept the threat and the Home Front Command has issued a preemptive directive directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas. It asked citizens to enter protected spaces upon receiving the alert and remain in them until a new announcement.
