Austin bar shooting leaves three dead

At least three people were killed and 14 others injured in a shooting at a popular bar in Austin, Texas, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The suspected gunman was also killed after police opened fire, authorities said.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said officers received a call at 1.39am reporting a “male shooting” at Buford’s, a well-known beer garden located in the city’s entertainment district.

When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a man armed with a gun. Police returned fire and fatally shot the suspect.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief Robert Luckritz confirmed that three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Fourteen others were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, with three of the wounded reported to be in critical condition.

“We received a call at 1:39 a.m. and within 57 seconds, the first paramedics and officers were on scene actively treating the patients,” Luckritz said, underlining the swift emergency response.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or the suspect. Investigations are continuing to establish the motive behind the attack.

The incident has shaken the Austin community, with officials urging anyone with information to assist investigators as the probe progresses.
