Venezuela's main opposition leader on Wednesday cast doubt on the trustworthiness of interim President Delcy Rodriguez, whom Washington is working with following a military intervention.
"I think no one has faith in Delcy Rodriguez," Maria Corina Machado told reporters after talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Rodriguez was vice president to leader Nicolas Maduro, who was snatched by US commandoes in a deadly January 3 attack ordered by President Donald Trump against the oil-rich country.
Machado said of Rodriguez: "We're talking about criminals. They have killed people intentionally. They have made a third of our population leave our country and flee.
"They have designed the most criminal torture and repressive system in history in this hemisphere.
"This is state terrorism and she's an essential part of it."
Rubio earlier in the day told a Senate hearing that he was upbeat about working with Rodriguez, whom Trump has threatened with force if she does not comply with his demands, starting with benefiting US oil companies.
