US President Donald Trump on Thursday called for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Praising the US for efforts to “make peace all over the world,” Trump said, “We’re settling wars at levels that nobody’s ever seen before.” He added that a recent discussion between a US delegation and Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the “impression” that Putin “would like to end the war.”
“We’re settling wars at levels that nobody’s ever seen before. Eight of them. We’re looking for one more. That’s Russia-Ukraine, if that’s possible and I think we’ll get there eventually. Last week, 8,000 soldiers were killed. Last month, they had 27,000 soldiers needlessly killed. We got to get that stopped, we’re working very hard on it..,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday reiterated that Moscow will not compromise on its security interests to guarantee Kyiv’s safety.
When asked whether NATO membership for Ukraine was ever genuinely considered and how he viewed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s leadership, Putin said Zelensky had come to power promising peace but had strayed from that course.
“When this gentleman came to power, he declared that he would pursue peace at all costs, using every means possible, without sparing even his career. But now we see things differently. He follows the same pattern as his predecessors — putting the interests of a narrow nationalist group, particularly radical nationalists, ahead of those of the people.”
