In a chilling prediction that has stirred fresh interest in the realm of prophecy and pandemic preparedness, Japanese clairvoyant and manga artist Ryo Tatsuki has warned the world of a potential deadly virus outbreak in 2030 – one she says could mirror the scale and chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tatsuki, who gained fame not just for her art but for a string of eerily accurate predictions, has drawn comparisons to the legendary Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga. Her followers say her forecasts aren’t mere coincidence. In the early 1990s, she reportedly foretold the deaths of Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury, the 2011 Kobe earthquake, and even the COVID-19 crisis – decades before it stunned the world.

Now, Tatsuki’s latest prediction is raising eyebrows. In a series of sketches and notes recently circulated online, the artist-prophet allegedly warns that a new, fast-spreading virus will grip the globe in 2030, leading to widespread panic, public health emergencies, and travel disruptions. While she doesn’t name the origin or exact nature of the virus, the tone is ominous, and comparisons to COVID-19 are unavoidable.

In her 1999 book The Future as I See It, Ryo Tatsuki predicted a mysterious virus would peak in April 2020, fade, and return a decade later. She now warns of an even deadlier outbreak in 2030. Often compared to Baba Vanga—who famously foresaw events with striking accuracy—Tatsuki has gained global attention for her eerie predictions.

Tatsuki’s predictions are drawing renewed attention amid rising COVID-19 cases in India, fuelling public anxiety and calls for caution. In addition to warning of a new deadly virus in 2030, she has also forecast a major earthquake in Japan expected in July 2025.

Given Japan's location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, the country experiences around 1,500 earthquakes each year—most minor. However, the devastating 2011 quake and tsunami, which she had also predicted, still loom large in public memory, especially due to the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
