External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar strongly condemned the recent shooting in Washington, D.C., in which two Israeli diplomats were killed.

In a post on X, he stated, “Condemn in the strongest term the killing of Israeli diplomats in Washington DC. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and colleagues. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.”

Two staff members from the Israeli embassy were fatally shot on Wednesday evening near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. According to police, the suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, opened fire on four individuals. After being apprehended, he reportedly shouted, “Free, free Palestine,” as per an AP report.

The victims, a man and a woman, had been attending a Jewish event at the museum, which is located close to the FBI's field office, and were returning when the incident took place.

A 30-year-old suspect, Elias Rodriguez, a resident of Chicago, was taken into custody following the incident.
