Indian classical singer Armaan Khan, son of legendary classical vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, has announced a complete boycott of Bangladesh, saying he will never perform in the country amid ongoing violence and targeted attacks on Hindus, reports India Today.
Khan announced that he cancelled his scheduled concert on the same evening, citing ongoing violence against Hindus and reports of musical instruments being destroyed. “I am never going to Bangladesh, ever,” he said.
Calling for a complete boycott, Khan urged artists across the world to stop performing in Bangladesh until the violence ends. He also questioned the role of the Bangladesh government and suggested there could be involvement or failure at the state level.
A Muslim by faith, Khan said Islam stands for peace and condemned those misusing religion to justify violence. He added that several of his Hindu friends remain traumatised and trapped in Bangladesh.
