Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has opened up about how her young children are coping after their father’s death. Charlie, 31, was assassinated during a speech at Utah Valley University nearly two months ago. In a recent interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Erika became emotional as she shared how her three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son are processing the tragedy.
She revealed that her daughter still asks about her father, recalling how she explained that “Daddy has gone on a work trip with Jesus.” When Watters asked if her children still wondered about their father, Erika said, “Yes, my daughter continues to ask. But it is really sweet because I keep explaining to her a few things. And I said, if you ever want to talk to Daddy, you just look up to the sky and start talking to him. He can hear you.”
Last week, Erika shared a touching video of her daughter recognizing her late father’s poster outside the Turning Point USA headquarters. The child pointed at the image and said, “I see Daddy!”
In the caption, Erika wrote, “Her saying your name, as she witnesses all you’ve built and continue to build, proves that love never dies—it just changes form. It breathes through our children.”
She added, “This is her legacy also. And as she grows up and continues to say your name, I'll be reminding her that each time heaven leans in to listen.” Ending her note, she wrote, “I love you, Charlie baby. I'm so proud of you. We all are incredibly proud of you.”
Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson during an event in Utah. Robinson, described as a close ally of US President Donald Trump, faces the death penalty if convicted. Despite the tragedy, Erika has publicly forgiven her husband’s killer. “He wanted to save young men just like the one who took his life,” she said. “That man, that young man, I forgive him.”
The emotional interview will air on November 5 on Jesse Watters Primetime. A preview clip shared on Instagram has already garnered over 39,000 views, with many users expressing sympathy. “This is heartbreaking. No matter where you stand. These kids don’t get to grow up with their dad,” one comment read. Another added, “People need to leave her alone, my God. Everyone grieves differently.”
