Canada Election Results: PM Modi congratulates Mark Carney and the Liberal Party on historic win, Conservative Poilievre loses Carleton seat

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has lost his seat in Carleton, Ontario, in a surprising upset during Canada’s federal election. Once considered a frontrunner for prime minister, Poilievre now finds himself without a place in Parliament, limiting his role to leading the party from outside the House of Commons. Bruce Fanjoy of liberal party won the seat with 50.6% vote share.

China's foreign ministry has signaled a willingness to improve relations with Canada, stating it is open to developing ties based on "mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit." However, the statement came without a formal congratulation to Prime Minister Mark Carney following his election win, reflecting ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his election victory, praising him for representing a "strong Canada" amid global challenges.

Mark Carney is set to become Canada's 25th Prime Minister after the Liberal Party's surprising victory. Despite doubts following Justin Trudeau's resignation, Carney will be the first to take office without prior elected experience and the first since John Turner to do so without holding a seat in the House of Commons. NATO Chief Mark Rutte congratulated Mark Carney on his victory in Canada’s national election, expressing enthusiasm about strengthening the alliance between Canada and NATO.

Jagmeet Singh, who has stepped down as leader of the NDP, faced a crushing loss in Burnaby Central, British Columbia, finishing third behind Liberal candidate Wade Chang and Conservative candidate James Yan, trailing by over 12,000 votes.

The Liberal Party has secured 151 seats and is leading in 16 others, with a vote share of 43.4%. The Conservative Party follows closely, winning 132 seats and leading in 13, with a vote share of 41.5%. The Bloc Québécois has won 21 seats and is leading in two, while Jagmeet Singh's NDP has captured five seats, also leading in two. The Green Party has won one seat.

Liberal Party leader Mark Carney has officially secured his seat in Nepean, Ontario, winning with a commanding 64 percent of the vote. Conservative candidate Barbara Bal followed with 33 percent, while the NDP’s Shyam Shukla trailed at 2 percent.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his election victory, expressing hope for deeper cooperation between the two nations. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre spoke to party supporters at the party headquarters in Ottawa. He expressed his gratitude and said that it would be an honour to continue the fight and indicated that he would not be stepping down after the election defeat.

"We have to learn the lessons of tonight so we can have an even better result the next time Canadians decide the future for the country," he said.

Jagmeet Singh has stepped down as New Democratic Party leader. NDP lost its national party status after winning 8 seats in the Canadian polls.

While US President Donald Trump has not commented on his Canada poll result preference after CBC revealed a lead for the Liberals, last month he had said that even tho he does not care who wins, he would rather deal with a liberal than a conservative.

Jagmeet Singh has stepped down as New Democratic Party leader. The NDP is projected to win 8 seats in the Canada polls.

"The polls are now closed. For 37 days, in every corner of this country, our team worked to build a stronger Canada. Thank you to everyone who put so much into this campaign," Mark Carney tweeted on Tuesday morning.

While congratulations seem to be in order of the Liberal Party, the party remains un sure of securing a majority for themselves.

There was an atmosphere of happiness and cheers at the Liberal Party HQ after CBC revealed that Mark Carney-led Liberal Party is projected to win.
