Philippines Opens Doors to Indian Tourists with Visa-Free Entry; Atlys Forecasts 20–30% Surge in Travel Interest

Dreaming of turquoise waters, coral reefs, and vibrant island fiestas—with no visa hassles in sight? That dream is now a reality.

Starting June 8, 2025, Indian nationals can visit the Philippines visa-free for up to 14 days for tourism, as announced by the Philippine government. The move has already triggered a surge in interest—travel searches from India jumped by 28% within just a week, according to visa platform Atlys. Based on similar trends in the past, a sustained 20–30% rise in travel demand is expected over the coming months.

In addition, Indian travellers who hold valid visas or residence permits from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Schengen countries, or Singapore can now enjoy an extended visa-free stay of up to 30 days. These updated rules are part of the Philippines’ broader push to boost international tourism and position itself as a top choice for Indian globetrotters.

A Visa Policy That’s Reshaping Travel Plans

As per reports, before this new policy, the Philippines ranked eighth among Southeast Asian destinations searched by Indian travellers. It’s now shot up to third place, just behind Thailand and Indonesia—proving how ease of access can transform travel trends in one of the world’s fastest-growing outbound markets.

Who’s Booking Their Beach Beds?

Travel data shows a wide range of Indian travellers jumping on this new opportunity:

  • 42% of recent interest comes from couples and honeymooners, drawn to island escapes like Palawan and Siargao.
  • Solo travellers follow at 27%, with strong interest from metros like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore.
  • Families account for 21%, many crafting multi-stop itineraries across cities and beaches.
  • Interestingly, there’s a noticeable spike in first-time international travellers, now finally seeing the Philippines as an accessible and exciting choice.

Non-Stop Flights on the Horizon

Adding to the buzz, Air India will launch direct flights from Delhi to Manila starting October 1, 2025. As per reports, this development is expected to boost tourism further by simplifying access and cutting down travel time significantly.

Entry Essentials: What You Need to Know

Visa-free entry is valid only for tourism and is non-extendable and non-convertible. To qualify, Indian travellers must have:

  • A passport valid for at least six months beyond the travel period
  • Confirmed accommodation bookings
  • A return or onward ticket
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • A clean immigration record with the Philippines

Arrivals are allowed via all international airports and seaports, making it convenient to access destinations across the archipelago.
