  • Fee hike applies only to single-entry visa-on-arrival stickers
  • Other visa options and fees remain unchanged for travellers

Planning a trip to Egypt? International travellers arriving in the country will now have to pay a slightly higher visa-on-arrival fee after authorities raised the charge by $5. The revised rate came into effect on March 1, 2026, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The move affects visitors planning trips to some of Egypt’s most famous landmarks, including the Great Pyramids of Giza, the ancient temples of Luxor, and the monumental complex of Abu Simbel, which attract millions of tourists from around the world each year.

Under the revised rules, international travellers arriving in Egypt and opting for a visa on arrival must now pay $30 (around ₹2,495) for a single-entry visa valid for 30 days.

Previously, the visa-on-arrival sticker cost $25 (around ₹2,080). The new rate applies to visas issued at Egypt’s international airports as well as certain land and sea border crossings.

Officials have clarified that the fee change only applies to the single-entry visa-on-arrival sticker, while other visa options remain unchanged.

Travellers applying through the official electronic visa (e-visa) portal or obtaining visas through Egyptian embassies and consulates will continue to pay the existing fees.

Interestingly, Egypt will continue using the existing $25 visa sticker, but authorities will add an additional $5 sticker to reflect the revised total cost of $30.

The visa fee adjustment comes as Egypt experiences a strong tourism rebound. According to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and reported by Ahram Online, the country welcomed nearly 19 million tourists in 2025, marking a 21 percent increase compared with 2024.

The surge made 2025 one of the strongest years on record for Egypt’s tourism industry and underscores the country’s continued appeal as a global travel destination.

For travellers, the visa fee increase may be modest, but Egypt’s ancient monuments, archaeological treasures, and Nile-side cities continue to rank among the world’s most sought-after travel experiences.
