Tulips Now Available for Public Purchase
For the first time, NDMC has made one lakh tulip bulbs available for sale to the public. These can be purchased from Shanti Path Lawn, Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, Talkatora Garden, Central Park, and NDMC nurseries.
Where to See Tulips in Delhi
This spring, tulips are in full bloom at multiple locations across the city, including:
For this year’s festival, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) imported 3.25 lakh tulip bulbs from the Netherlands, planting 2.25 lakh of them in various open spaces. The centerpiece of the display is at Shanti Path, where 1.46 lakh bulbs have been planted, transforming the area into a floral wonderland. Additionally, tulips have been introduced in 20 Delhi Development Authority (DDA) parks, adding a splash of color to the city's green spaces.
The journey of tulip cultivation in Delhi began in 2017-18, when NDMC conducted a trial with 17,000 bulbs to assess their suitability for local conditions. Since then, the initiative has grown into an annual tradition. This year, NDMC successfully produced 10,880 large tulip bulbs through storage and multiplication techniques. Additionally, 14,735 bulbs cultivated in Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with the Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR) have been used for the festival.
