The union minister said that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are of the opinion that Lok Sabha elections and Assembly elections should be held simultaneously.

"Though Congress leaders beginning from Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru to Indira Gandhi and Manmohan Singh all have promised to end poverty, all of them have failed. However, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the process to end poverty," he said.

Taking a dig at the Congress, he said the grand old party will disappear from the political landscape of the country, like dinosaurs disappeared off the face of the earth.

"The BJP is the only party which did what it promised to the people," Singh said, while addressing an election rally here in support of party candidates (Union minister) Ajay Kumar Mishra from Kheri and Rekha Verma from Dhaurahra constituencies.

Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Rajnath Singh pointed out that during previous Congress-led administrations, several commissions had been established. These panels recommended that out of the 27% quota allocated for OBCs, 6% should be set aside for Muslims and 2% for other minority communities.

Congress and corruption were inextricably linked, Singh said, adding that most Congress governments faced corruption allegations, but no such allegations were made against any minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government

On April 1, Singh had announced that the country’s defence exports crossed Rs 21,000 crore in FY24 for the first time ever

"Opposition has no agenda. They create various misconceptions, and are misleading the nation on Citizenship Amendment Act. Nobody is going to lose their citizenship due to CAA," said Rajnath Singh

On the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, defence minister Rajnath Singh reiterated the party's target of 400 seats. "We are completely confident that the NDA will win cross 400 seats," the minister said

Emphasizing that the saffron party believes in the concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', Rajnath said, "The opposition is trying to create this illusion among our Muslim brothers that they will now be thrown out of the country. I want to tell my Muslim brothers we believe that the world is one family".

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Rajnath said that the opposition bloc will struggle to face the NDA in the general election.

During a fireside chat on the concluding day of the Times Now Summit here, while responding to a question on the criticism of the Agniveer scheme, the minister said such questions have "no standing" and underlined that everyone will accept that the armed forces should have a young profile.

The conference will be held in virtual mode on March 28 and thereafter in physical mode from April 1-2, the statement said.
