In 2020, the JD(U) had contested 115 seats and the BJP 110, while Paswan’s party went solo. The ongoing seat-sharing impasse has delayed the NDA’s full-fledged campaign rollout. Bihar goes to the polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
JD(U)'s list comes a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party released the name of 71 candidates.
According to sources, the Congress had initially asked for 70 seats, the same number as they had fought in the 2020 Assembly elections. Arguing that the number of constituents in Mahagatbandhan has increased and therefore the 2020 formula can not be implemented in this election, the RJD has offered Congress a lesser tally.
