




Observing that there are many experienced leaders who are capable of becoming the prime minister, Naidu said he does not aspire to occupy the top post as his task is to develop Andhra Pradesh's capital Amaravati
Naidu's Telugu Desam Party is part of the 'People's Front' also comprising Congress, CPI and Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS).
Naidu, who shared the dais with Gandhi in a couple of meetings Wednesday as part of a poll campaign for People's Front candidates in the state, said there was a democratic compulsion for non-BJP parties to come on a single platform.
Earlier this month, Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu had met Pawar and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in Delhi, as part of his efforts to build a pan-India alliance to take on the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
"In 2014 itself, the BJP understood the way he (Chandrababu) was functioning that he is working against Telangana...we have suffered because of that and immediately we have distanced unilaterally and came out of that partnership," Rao told reporters here.
Naidu, who has been making efforts to put together an anti-BJP front, had met Gandhi earlier this month.
TDP politburo member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy asserted it was under Naidu's helmsmanship of undivided Andhra Pradesh that the present-day Telangana capital Hyderabad developed exponentially and now accounted for 64 percent of the state's income.
This ends speculation over whether the Andhra Pradesh chief minister would join Sonia Gandhi at her public meeting in Medchal after the two parties, along with others, forged an alliance for the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls.
The former Karnataka chief minister, on the campaign trail in Telangana, also said the Congress was gaining ground at the national level, while the BJP-led NDA was losing partners.
Telangana will witness its first assembly election after being carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
Naidu will meet Gowda at his residence at Padmanabha Nagar and Kumaraswamy would also bepresent during the meeting, JD(S) said on Wednesday.

The pre-poll pact of TDP, the ruling party of the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, and the Congress for election to the 119-member Telangana house, has also come under fire by the TRS and BJP, which have repeatedly dubbed it "unholy."

Earlier in the day, Naidu met NCP chief Sharad Pawar and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah here.
Naidu "coincidentally" also met senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here and briefly discussed about the need to bring all non-BJP political parties together, TDP sources said.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) sources said Naidu will meet Gandhi at his residence around 3:30 pm and they are likely to hold discussions for an alliance for the December 7 Assembly elections in Telangana.
Asserting that the capital city is being developed at a faster pace, CM Naidu said that any change of government in the state is unlikely to affect the works as a "solid eco-system" has been put in place
