I want to be with BJP, like to meet Amit Shah: Mukul Roy

FAQ

Mukul Roy has been associated with the Indian National Congress, Trinamool Congress (which he co-founded), and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has returned to the TMC after a brief but impactful stint in the BJP.
Roy has served as a Rajya Sabha MP, Minister of State for Shipping, Minister of State for Railways, and briefly as Union Railway Minister. He has also been Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee in the West Bengal Assembly.
He left the Trinamool Congress in 2017 after being suspended from the party, reportedly due to internal differences and alleged involvement in corruption scandals. He then joined the BJP.
As BJP's national vice-president, Roy helped the party gain significant electoral ground in West Bengal, especially during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when BJP won 18 seats in the state.
After winning the Krishnanagar Uttar seat as a BJP MLA in 2021, Mukul Roy rejoined TMC, citing dissatisfaction with the BJP’s functioning and leadership. His move was seen as a major political reversal.
