Popular video streaming platform YouTube has released its Global Culture and Trends Report for 2024. This new report gives us a brief overview of the top trends, creators, and songs in the app over 2024 and highlights some of the key cultural shifts, propelled trends, dance trends, popular memes, and more. The YouTube Trending section replaced YouTube Rewind in 2020, and it showcases the biggest trends found by fans across different geographies globally.

This year’s YouTube Trending report emphasizes on major cultural moments like the Cricket World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Ambani wedding, and multiple hit movies. All of these moments captured the highest views on YouTube and generated lots of polarizing opinions or comments from users.

In 2024, popular Shorts videos from regional hits in Marathi and Garhwali generated the most views, while artists like Hanumankind with its Big Dawgs song gained global popularity. Cristiano Ronaldo’s YouTube channel grew to over 19 million subscribers in the first 24 hours, which was also mostly driven by Indian YouTube users.

The most trending topic on YouTube for 2024 globally was the 2024 United States presidential election. On the other hand, Mr Beast, for the third year running, grabbed the top YouTube creator spot.
