Yakuza Kiwami 3, the remake of 2009’s Yakuza 3, has a confirmed release date. The action-adventure game will launch with Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties as a single bundle on February 12, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4 and PC via Steam.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 is not a remastered version of the original game; instead, it is being completely rebuilt from the ground up, utilising the Dragon Engine that was first introduced in Yakuza 6.
The story of Yakuza Kiwami 3 takes place in Kamurocho, the fictional area inspired by Tokyo’s Kabukicho region. The remake of Yakuza 3 also features a secondary location called Ryukyu, located in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture.
In Yakuza Kiwami 3, you will play as Kazuma Kiryu as he fights to protect the people he cares about the most. Combat in the Yakuza 3 remake has been reimagined and takes “brutal brawling action to the next level.” The game adds extra scenes with “new and enhanced side experiences” to make the storytelling richer and more immersive.
The action-adventure game will feature both Japanese and English voice acting. Japanese actor Teruyuki Kagawa will star in Yakuza Kiwami 3 as Go Hamazaki, thus replacing the character model used for the original Yakuza 3 game.
The Yakuza Kiwami 3 cast includes:
Kazuma Kiryu (played by Takaya Kuroda)
Yoshitaka Mine (played by Shido Nakamura)
Rikiya Shimabukuro (played by Show Kasamatsu)
Tsuyoshi Kanda (played by Hiroyuki Miyasako)
Daigo Dojima (played by Satoshi Tokushige)
Shigeru Nakahara (played by Ryo Ishibashi)
Go Hamazaki (played by Teruyuki Kagawa)
As mentioned, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and publisher Sega have bundled Yakuza Kiwami 3 with a spin-off adventure. Yakuza Kiwami 3 also includes the brand new spin-off game called Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties, giving antagonist Yoshitaka Mine his own playable storyline.
