After introducing its first clamshell foldable smartphone in select global markets last year, Xiaomi is now gearing up to introduce the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 in the coming weeks. A tipster has now leaked the launch timeline of this foldable handset, and it is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It will be the successor to the Xiaomi Mix Flip, and is expected to compete against the Samsung Z Flip and Moto Razr series.
Xiaomi Mix Flip 2: Expected launch timeline, specifications
Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has claimed that Xiaomi’s Mix Flip 2 will release in June. It is expected to be introduced alongside other devices like the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition and a new Redmi gaming tablet, and is tipped to run on the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Moreover, unlike last year, when the company introduced the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, it is likely to be the only foldable from Xiaomi this year.
Previous reports have indicated that the device could come with a 6.85-inch folding screen with 1.5K resolution and support a 120 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it could house a 5,100 mAh battery with support for 67W wired and 50W wireless charging, which would be a significant upgrade over the 4,780 mAh battery on the Mix Flip.
For optics, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 could house a dual rear camera comprising a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide shooter. Additionally, the phone is likely to have an IPX8-rated build for dust and water resistance, with 7.6mm thickness and weighing around 190 grams.
