Xiaomi 17 Ultra has surfaced in multiple certifications and leaks, revealing details about its camera hardware, launch timeline, and potential new imaging technologies. Model numbers 25128PNA1C and 2512BPNDAC have been spotted in China, suggesting that Xiaomi may release two distinct versions of its next Leica-branded flagship earlier than expected — possibly as soon as December 2025 in China.
Camera specifications
According to prominent leakers on Weibo and X, including Kartikey Singh and Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is testing prototypes of the 17 Ultra with either a triple or quad rear camera setup. One prototype reportedly uses a triple-camera configuration featuring a 200MP telephoto sensor equipped with a continuous optical zoom system — similar to Sony’s Xperia 1 VII.
However, a higher-end model is rumored to retain the quad-camera setup with three 50MP sensors and one 200MP sensor, accompanied by new periscope optical technology. The main sensor is described as “extremely dynamic,” while the supporting sensors are said to use conventional optics.
Leica partnership and modular system
Xiaomi’s continued collaboration with Leica remains central to the 17 Ultra’s imaging identity. Leaks also point toward the integration of a modular magnetic optical system, similar to the prototype shown at MWC 2025. That system featured a magnetically attachable external camera module with a 100MP Micro Four Thirds sensor and a 35mm lens, hinting that Xiaomi could experiment with clip-on lens support for the Ultra series.
Launch details
Certification records and leaker posts indicate that the Chinese launch could occur in December 2025, while the global launch is expected around Mobile World Congress 2026. Two global model numbers, 2512BPNDAG and 25128PNA1G, suggest worldwide availability. Both models are expected to include satellite connectivity and a 50MP front camera.
