Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its new compact flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 16, which will arrive as the successor to the Xiaomi 15, launched globally this year. Ahead of the device’s launch, a tipster has suggested the key specifications of the Xiaomi 16. According to the leak, it is expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC and could pack a 50MP triple rear camera setup. Further, it is expected to provide significant battery upgrades.
Xiaomi 16: Expected specifications
Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has shared important specifications of the Xiaomi 16. According to him, the device will come with a 6.3-inch flat OLED display with thin bezels on all four sides. Moreover, the phone is tipped to come with Android 16 with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3.0 skin and will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.
This purported Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit later this year, and the Xiaomi 16 could be the first smartphone to be powered by this chipset. It promises to enhance CPU performance by up to 25% and improve GPU output by around 30% compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
In the camera department, the Xiaomi 16 is tipped to feature three 50MP sensors: a primary, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto sensor with macro support, like its predecessors. However, in terms of battery, it is expected to come with a battery pack between 6500mAh – 7000mAh capacity. This would be a considerable upgrade over Xiaomi 15’s battery capacity, which comes with a 5400 mAh (5200 mAh globally) battery pack.
