The outage appears to have affected both the x.com website as well as X mobile app on both Android and iOS platforms. The outage has been recorded by the downtime recording platform -- Downdetector.com.
Outage details (India and global)
According to Downdetector data, the outage started gaining traction at around 8:25 PM IST, with reports surging from just a handful to thousands within minutes. In India, users reported being unable to load timelines, post updates, or log in to their accounts. Globally, the situation appeared even more severe — Downdetector’s US outage page recorded over 16,000 reports at its peak around 8:26 PM local time.

The outage affected multiple regions, with reports pouring in from North America, Europe, Asia, and parts of the Middle East. Heat maps showed concentrated problem zones in major metropolitan areas, indicating widespread connectivity issues rather than isolated disruptions.
Problems users are facing
Most reported issue was with the website, accounting for 58% of complaints in one instance, while 35% were related to the mobile app and around 6% to server connections. Globally, problem distribution varied slightly, with the website and app almost equally affected — 52% and 47% respectively, and 1% reporting server connection failures.
Users took to other social media platforms to voice frustration, stating they were unable to refresh feeds, send direct messages, or view notifications. Some reported being automatically logged out and unable to sign back in, while others encountered error messages when trying to load the site.

At the time of reporting, X had not issued an official statement regarding the cause of the outage or a timeline for restoration.
