X has introduced a new automatic post translation feature aimed at improving accessibility and engagement across its global user base. The update allows posts written in different languages to be translated automatically as users scroll through their feeds, removing the need for manual translation.
The feature is powered by Grok, the AI chatbot developed by xAI, and is being rolled out globally. The move comes as part of the platform’s broader push to enhance in-app experience through AI-driven tools.
How the feature works
With the new update, posts written in unfamiliar languages are automatically converted into the user’s preferred language in real time. Earlier, users had to tap on a translate button to view content in another language. The new system eliminates that extra step.
Users still retain control over the feature. If they prefer to read posts in their original language, they can disable automatic translation for specific languages through settings available on each post.
Supported languages
The automatic translation feature supports a wide range of global and regional languages, including:
English
Hindi
Arabic
Bengali
Chinese
French
German
Spanish
Portuguese
Japanese
Korean
Tamil
Telugu
Malayalam
Urdu
Indonesian
Italian
Turkish
Russian
Thai
Vietnamese
The feature is designed to expand the reach of posts and make conversations more inclusive. Users can now discover and understand content shared in different languages without relying on external tools.
In addition to translation, X is also introducing new AI-powered tools such as a photo editor with features like blur for privacy and natural language-based image edits.
