Huawei is gearing up to unveil a book-style foldable design, which offers a wider inner screen, as opposed to taller main displays on foldable smartphones. Dubbed the Pura X Max, the phone is set to be launched alongside the Pura 90 series in China next week, and ahead of its release, the company has revealed the phone’s design, colour options, with its RAM and storage configurations. With Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone already generating buzz, Huawei’s latest launch could give it a head start in the evolving foldable smartphone segment.
Huawei Pura X Max: Launch date, expected specs, design
Huawei has listed the Pura X Max foldable on its official online store in China with five colour options: Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, Phantom Night Black, Vibrant Orange and Zero Degree White. Based on the pictures shared by the brand, the phone appears to have a very wide inner screen, similar to an iPad mini. This design is reminiscent of the original Google Pixel Fold, which paired a 5.8-inch outer display with a 7.6-inch inner screen.
Huawei has confirmed that the Pura X Max will officially launch in China on April 20, alongside the Pura 90 series. It is expected to soon be released in other markets as well. The smartphone is listed in multiple configurations, with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. If wider foldable smartphones from Apple and Samsung launch soon, then the upcoming Huawei Pura X Max could rival them with a similar wider design.
While Huawei hasn’t shared any specifications of the phone, the Pura X Max is likely to offer larger and wider cover and inner screens than the company’s last year’s flagship foldable, the Huawei Pura X. By introducing this new style early, Huawei has potentially taken a lead over other wide-screen foldable devices releasing this year.
