Microsoft has introduced a new plan to tackle persistent performance complaints in Windows 11. In the latest Insider Preview Build, the company is testing automatic performance logging to help engineers diagnose and resolve issues more quickly.

The initiative, now live for Windows Insiders, allows the Feedback Hub to collect logs automatically when users report slow or sluggish system behaviour. Microsoft is specifically asking users to submit feedback when they experience these performance issues, as the data could help accelerate the root-cause analysis.

"Windows Insiders are encouraged to provide feedback when experiencing PC issues related to slow or sluggish performance," Microsoft said in a blog post. This new feedback mechanism is part of a broader performance improvement roadmap as the company prepares the 25H2 update, expected to roll out later this year.

Since its launch in October 2021, Windows 11 has faced criticism for being less responsive than Windows 10 on certain hardware, including newer hybrid-core CPUs. Although Microsoft has pushed several updates to address these complaints — including taskbar responsiveness tweaks and reduced startup app impact — performance issues continue to be reported.

The upcoming 25H2 update is expected to bring further refinements. Alongside performance logging, Microsoft is tightening its focus on driver quality. Developers will now be required to conduct static analysis as part of the driver certification process. This move is aimed at catching potential flaws before deployment, improving system stability and overall efficiency.

Microsoft has already made performance adjustments in previous updates like 24H2, which helped older PCs run more smoothly. With automatic log collection and a renewed focus on driver reliability, the 25H2 release may offer the most meaningful boost yet for Windows 11 users frustrated with inconsistent performance.
