Truecaller launches Family Protection to safeguard families from phone scams
Truecaller has introduced Family Protection, a new feature aimed at making digital safety a shared experience within families. Integrated into the Truecaller app on both Android and iOS, the feature allows users to create trusted family groups and provides tools to help protect members—especially those less familiar with scam tactics—from fraudulent or unwanted calls.

How Family Protection works
Family Protection allows up to five members to join a private group managed by a Family Admin. The Admin can set protection levels, manage blocklists and decide how unwanted calls should be handled. On Android devices, the Admin can receive alerts during potential scam calls on other family members’ phones and can remotely end such calls if required. The system is designed to offer support in real time and reduce the risk of falling for sophisticated phone scams.

While Family Protection is free, it also drives engagement for Truecaller. Families looking for additional protection can move to Truecaller Premium Family, which supports up to five users and includes advanced spam blocking, automatic rejection of high-risk numbers and an ad-free experience. This aligns with the company’s strategy of strengthening subscription revenues and user retention.
