Ahead of Safer Internet Day, Tinder has launched a Dating Safety Guide in Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and Bengali. The guide was first available in English, but now more people in India can access it in their own language.
Tinder has collaborated with the Centre for Social Research (CSR), a non-profit that focuses on safety and gender equality. The guide, which now comes in four Indian languages. helps users learn how to date safely online and in person. It includes tips on spotting red flags, understanding consent, and using safety features like Photo Verification, Unmatch, and Block Contacts.
According to a survey conducted by Tinder, Indian users are often concerned about safety before meeting a match. Around 37% users said that they prefer video calling their match before going on a date. With this new guide, Tinder hopes to help more people safe and confident.
Through February 2025, Tinder users in India will see in-app messages about the guide. These messages will provide safety tips and a link to the full guide. The goal is to educate and empower users to make safe choices.
Jyoti Vadehra, Digital Trust and Safety Lead at CSR said the guide will help more people, especially women, get into online dating with a little more confidence. Tinder’s Vice President of Trust & Safety, Yoel Roth, said the company is committed to making dating safer for everyone.
“At Match Group, we’re committed to making dating safer for millions of people worldwide. For Safer Internet Day, we’re launching the Tinder Dating Safety Guide in multiple languages, empowering young daters in India with essential tools and tips. Partnering with the Center for Social Research, we’re raising awareness of practical steps people can take for safer dating, reinforcing our commitment to stronger safety standards across our platforms and communities, and industry,” he said.
