The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria

Co-op adventure and survival crafting game The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria has arrived on Valve’s Steam platform. For over a year since its launch, The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria, featuring the story of a band of Dwarves under Lord Gimli Lockbearer going on a quest to retake Moria, was on Epic Games Store for PC players and on PS5. It was also optimised for Xbox Series X and Series S and now has launched on Steam with Steam Deck support.

The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria: What the Golden Update brings

Developers Free Range Games have updated the third-person Lord of the Rings RPG with the Golden Update, which brings new features and content. It should be noted that The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria is the first survival crafting Lord of the Rings game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth.

The Golden Update allows you to pause Lord of the Rings Return to Moria in the offline single-player mode whenever you want.

The Golden Update to The Lord of the Rings Return to Moria also adds 100 building objects and a sandbox mode in which you can just dig deep into the mines and build your settlement within the bowels of the earth without a care for the story. The dwarves also get new hats and axes as part of the Golden Update.

In the sandbox mode of Return to Moria, you can build worlds from "a wide variety of random seeds, meaning each playthrough can vary significantly in layout and difficulty". The developers recommend that you play the sandbox mode only if you have a fair understanding of the Return to Moria campaign. In the sandbox mode, you can make up to 14 new weapons and armour like the mithril battleaxe Barôkamlut and the Wolf Skin Hat.

Crossplay support, an improved building system, new ambient music and new difficulty settings

The Golden Update brings cross-play support to Lord of the Rings Return to Moria, bridging the gap between Lord of the Rings fans who've purchased the game across different platforms. Playing alongside friends, wherever they live, will be easier now.

The building system has been improved; the pre-placed buildings in Moria have been made stronger.

The Golden Update adds new ambient music to the co-op survival crafting Lord of the Rings game. You will also see more options in Return to Moria’s difficulty settings related to the frequency of sieges, hordes or patrols and mining drops.
